DAVE 5.0 SERIAL NUMBER

April 14, 2005

Man, it's been a while. Lately I'm either feeling super busy or super lazy. Always one or the other. It's about time I get off the lazy track and start getting my shit together. Luckily this weekend will get several things out of the way, one of them being an entire class. Yes! Then, I'll have had my first interview (hopefully the start of multiple ongoing productive interviews). After that, it's time to get end-o-the-year papers written ahead of time. HA. We'll have to see about that one. Although, I can't imagine what would kick more ass than having all that out of the way ahead of time. What else. Oh, the German Play is the class I'm finishing up this weekend. We are putting on Arthur Schnitzler's "Anatol." Our performances are Friday and Saturday nights. After that, all that is left is for me to collect $277.40 for my set expenses and begin drinking $277.40 worth of alcohol and bubble tea.

Looks like tomorrow the Carlsonics are playing downtown for an IRIS release party. They're putting out their 25th issue of whatever it is they publish. And for whatever reason the Carlsonics are celebrating, too. I will try to be in attendance. Another interesting piece of news is that I saw Crystal Shin this past Sunday at the villa while I was eating lunch with Jess. How crazy it was to see her. She was in town visiting for a bridal shower during her school's spring break. She seemed to be doing very well and was in good shape. She'll be in DC or Alexandria this summer hopefully not teaching, or else teaching summer school somewhere nearby. woohoo.

There are some other bits of news, but I'm just going to ignore them for the time being. I ran out of gas while driving today for the first time in my entire driving career. It was one of those milestones you come across and feel good about after overcoming it. Apparently my dad's car does not display the conventional light shaped as anything related to gasoline when the tank is dangerously close to empty. Rather it just puts up a small light that reads "check gage", which means to look at the gas guage two inches below. I think it is the most illogical pointless light I've ever seen in my life. It makes me feel like my car is a smartass telling me to read the gas guage I'm already reading. Other cars let you ride it on "E" until the secondary light comes on before panicing. Anyway, I was pleased to know that I have people who are capable of bringing me gasoline as well as police officers who stop to ask what the deal is. How nice.

My hands are cold and I'm finally getting tired. So, in closing, I'll just wrap this up and say that everything these days is nice and I'm hanging out with people who like to do nice fun things all the time. Overall, I'm having a nice time in this silly little town. I'm gonna miss it next year. woo.

The last month or so has been chock full of crap to do. Thank god about 80 percent of it is over. Production is still going on for promotions. Now we have to mock up a bunch of stuff for the presenting team to use. The case competition is over, but there are some minor things that we need to do before we're really through. And, now the german play is starting to pick up. I actually had to put in some effort this weekend and get a build day going. I made a ridiculous trip to lowes, spent way too much time in there, and dropped about $200 on lumber, nails, paint brushes, etc. Blah.

I've cleaned my room. In doing so, I decided to start removing winter stuff, plus things I just never use. It started to look like I was moving out. I also took out a few things to use in the german play. It feels like my room is bigger, emptier and echoier, too. I like it. I feel that much closer to leaving. Not that I really want to leave. I've had a really good time here. Damn, I streaked the lawn twice this past weekend. I don't think it gets much better than that. Oh I put up Eileen's postcards on my wall. I can't believe she went to so many places in one trip. I am currently planning some graduation trips. None of them are going to be in europe. One will be in miami, an possibly another will be in california somewhere--maybe even a cross country roadtrip. I'm scared of the effort the roadtrip will require both physically and emotionally. It could be fun, but right now it just sounds like a drag. We'll see... Anyway, i have a paper to write and some sleep to catch up on. I'll write again later. tata!
